In this tutorial, you’ll learn the basics of choosing and applying your lipstick. First of all, choose the best soft lip color for your skin type. For fair skin, it is recommended to use a pale pink or berry. For medium and olive skin, apricot, beiges and bronzy nudes work best. For dark skin, it’s complimented by mauves, sheer reds, and berries. After choosing the perfect lipstick color to match your skin tone, proceed to applying your lip makeup.
Step 1:
Begin with applying a lip liner. A lip liner is a colored pencil used to outline the lips. It helps to keep the color from feathering or bleeding. It also helps to ensure proper shape and definition of the lips. The lip liner is applied before your lipstick or lip gloss. Choose a lip liner that best coordinates with your lip color. To apply, start on the corner of your lip and work your way to the arch, lining the right inside of the lip. Make sure to stay in line. When you get to the arch area, round it, and repeat on the opposite side. Do the same with the bottom, start on the corner, work your way to the center, and repeat on the opposite side. To avoid harsh lines, fill in the lip with the liner because it helps blend with the lip color.
Step 2:
Once done with the lip liner, finish off with the lipstick and gloss. Choose a lipstick that has a very similar, lighter shade, and creamy color to the lip liner. You can use a matte lipstick because you’ll apply gloss on it later. Find colors that you really like and that would match to your skin tone and clothes. Apply it with a lip brush or with the lipstick tube. Part your lips and put a nice full coat. Make sure everything is well blended and even.
Step 3:
The last thing to do is add some lip gloss. Nowadays, it’s available with a brush tip, sponge, a roll on or even in squeeze tubes. It is also available in many colors. Most lip glosses are clear which you can apply this over a lip color or by itself. There are also glosses in multiple colors to wear alone. For this tutorial, you can use a lip gloss with a little bit of a color or a shade lighter than the lipstick. To apply the gloss, start at the center and work your way to your natural lip arch, all the way to the corner. Repeat on the opposite side, starting at the center, working your way out to the corner. Avoid going all the way to the corner because throughout the day, your lip color will eventually blend out and you don’t want it to build up in the corner of your mouth. Do the same on your bottom lip. Just go about half way on each side. End your lip makeup with a pout and a smile.
