Mortal Kombat 1 is a great chance for the series to bring back some old characters. Here are some people who might come back.
Mortal Kombat 1 has finally been revealed, and its launch trailer shows that Liu Kang, who is now a god, has created a whole new world. This is what Mortal Kombat 11 hinted at at the end of the game.
Liu Kang is the only character in this reboot who is tied to a known timeframe. This means that almost anyone, even characters who have died, could show up. With this in mind, the cast of Mortal Kombat 1 can include any character from the Mortal Kombat series, even ones that haven’t been seen in decades.
Smoke
Smoke is one of the original ninjas in Mortal Kombat, along with Scorpion and Sub-Zero. Even so, the gray-clad killer has been seen much less than his other ninja brothers and sisters. He was last seen in the 2011 reboot of Mortal Kombat.
Smoke plays very differently from the other ninjas. He has moves like Smoke Away, which is a command dash, Smoke Cloud, which teleports enemies, and Shake, which is a strong parry. As he has been both a human and a cyborg at different points in the story, he could be in Mortal Kombat 1 in one or both of these forms.
Sektor
Since Mortal Kombat 3, when he first appeared, the famous crimson cyborg Lin Kuei has been a mainstay of the series. However, in Mortal Kombat 11, he was taken out of the game and made into a non-playable character.
Sektor has a wide range of attacking moves, like the Rocket Punch uppercut and Chest Missiles and Homing Missiles, that he can use to keep his opponents in check. Sektor could be replaced by Triborg again like he was in Mortal Kombat X, but he could also stand on his own in this new world.
Tremor
The tumultuous Tremor is one of the more recent ninjas in the series. He is only available in the Kombat Pack for Mortal Kombat X. Even so, Tremor has become a fan favourite because of his unique geokinesis powers and scary appearance.
Tremor’s unique gameplay style as an armoured bruiser, where he can throw large boulders with Rock Shower, trap his opponents with Ground Pulse, which can’t be blocked, and give himself super armour with Krystallization, would work well in Mortal Kombat 1, and could even benefit a lot from the Kameo Fighter system’s assists.
Blaze
The evil fire elemental Blaze first showed up as a background character in Mortal Kombat 2’s stage “The Pit.” He later showed up as a hidden playable character in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance and made his full appearance as the main bad guy in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. Since then, he hasn’t been seen.
Blaze is a classic “boss” figure, just like Goro, so he could show up as a mini-boss during the story mode of Drift Boss game. If Liu Kang messes with the way reality works, Blaze could be called for a new Armageddon.
Onaga
Dragon King Onaga was the first ruler of Outworld. He first appears in Mortal Kombat Deception as the main bad guy, and he came back in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. Since then, he hasn’t been in the series.
The Great Dragon can control fire, do strong necromancy, and fight Raiden, Shang Tsung, and Quan Chi all at the same time. So, Onaga could be a strong rival to the Fire God Liu Kang. In fact, it has been said that Liu Kang’s fire comes from Onaga.
Reptile
Reptile made his debut in the first Mortal Kombat as the first secret character in the history of fighting games. Since he is a reptile Saurian, he stands out from other humanoid ninjas. Reptile has always been in the Mortal Kombat games, but the last time he showed up was in Mortal Kombat X.
Reptile’s animalistic fury and wide range of powers would be welcome in Mortal Kombat 1’s chaotic new world. He can spew acid that melts skin, make himself invisible, release poison gas that does damage, and temporarily increase his strength with his Basilisk special move.
Takeda
Takeda is one of the most well-liked new characters in the series. He is the son of the blind swordsman Kenshi and Scorpion’s student. The whip-wielding killer was one of the main characters in the story mode of Mortal Kombat X, but he didn’t come back in Mortal Kombat 11.
Takeda is good at keeping his enemies guessing because he fights with steel whips with sharpened edges, plasma swords, explosive kunai, and a teleport that looks like the Scorpion’s. Scorpion seems to be an important figure in the story of Mortal Kombat 1, so it would be strange if his best student wasn’t there with him.
Goro
Goro, the monster with many arms, is a mainstay of the series. He is the grandfather of mini-bosses in fighting games. Goro is often the hardest opponent in the Arcade levels of the Mortal Kombat series. He was last seen as a pre-order bonus character in Mortal Kombat X.
The Shokan monster is always scary to face because he can easily break bones and throw people around with his four strong arms. Shang Tsung is back as the main bad guy in Mortal Kombat 1, and his loyal sidekick is ready to help him beat the good guys into the ground.
Mortal Kombat 1 is coming out on PC, PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X on September 19.
