As one of the founders of the largest airline holding company in Latin America, LATAM Airlines Group, is an international airline established in Santiago, Chile. It was previously known as LAN Airlines, LAN-Chile, and LATAM Chile. The primary hub is located at Santiago’s Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport, with additional hubs located at the airports in São Paulo, Lima, Bogotá, Quito, Guayaquil, and Asunción. LAN was the national airline of Chile until it was privatized in the 1990s. Through its local subsidiaries, LAN is the second-biggest airline in Colombia and the leading airline in Ecuador, Peru, and Chile. With service to Latin America, North America, the Caribbean, Oceania, Asia, and Europe, LAN is the biggest airline in Latin America. From 2000 until 2020, the airline was a part of the Oneworld airline alliance.
