No time to do all the Eeveelutions I want to. What is the most exciting possible future for Eevee?
The Eevee and its different physical forms are some of the most famous Pokemon. Trainers almost always list them as their favorite. There’s a good chance that an Eeveelution has the power you need to complete your team.
But as the number of these wonderful friends grows, it’s natural that some will turn out to be more helpful than others. Even though each Eevee development is unique, we’re going to compare their numbers and move sets to find the one that is the best.
Glaceon
There are a lot of times when Glaceon stands out as the cutest Eeveelution. It’s also not so generally bad that you shouldn’t do it in the single-player game. The little Ice-type with the bunny ears does work well in many major plots. It has a pretty good Defense score, and its Special Attack is great.
What’s not to love? Glaceon’s overall HP and Speed aren’t very good, which is a shame. Both start with 65, which isn’t a very good number and can’t be spun. By proxy, Glaceon’s high Defense isn’t as amazing, and that weakness, along with the fact that Ice is already pretty weak, means you need the frosty fox to move first in battle if you want to win.
Jolteon
Jolteon is like a glass gun. It doesn’t have much HP, its physical defense is bad, and its special defense is good but not great. But because it has a great Special Attack and great Speed, the Electric-type Eeveelution will almost always get the first hit.
Unfortunately, Jolteon’s movepool doesn’t give it the variety of skills a Champion-worthy Pokemon needs. This is a problem that many Eevee versions have. There’s not much that can be done to cover up Thunderbolt for STAB (“Same Type Attack Bonus”). It does what it says it will do—it’s very fast—but that’s about it.
Flareon
Before Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, physical (Attack-based) moves and special (Special Attack-based) moves were completely based on the type of the Pokemon. Fire was a Special type, so Flareon’s powers were severely limited by its smaller Special Attack and the fact that it couldn’t do much with its higher Attack stat.
But even so, it still only has a few moves, and both its HP and Speed are very low. Its Defense is even worse, as if that wasn’t bad enough. Even though Flare Blitz and Superpower can do a lot of harm, you should know ahead of time that this soft fire baby will die quickly afterward.
Vaporeon
Vaporeon follows the trend of having a few bad numbers that could ruin the whole package, but it still makes a splash thanks to some impressive strengths. Attack, Defense, and Speed are this Eeveelution’s weak spots.
Even though Vaporeon doesn’t have great Speed, it’s clear that the seaworthy friend is worth your time when you see that it has 130 HP and 110 Special Attack. The size keeps it going for a few rounds so you can hit your opponents hard with Scald, which could burn them, and if you can do a Rain Dance to boost its power, that’s even better.
Espeon
Espeon isn’t as fast as Jolteon, but 110 is still pretty fast. It’s just what Espeon needs to use moves like Psychic or Shadow Ball that make the most of its huge 130 Special Attack. You can take a chance and use Calm Mind for one turn, which will give the already high stat a two-stage boost and turn all of that into a massacre.
The purple friend works best with the ability “Magic Bounce,” which makes the enemy see certain status moves again. But even so, Espeon can’t get over every hill; its weak defenses may be typical of most Eeveelutions, but they’re still a problem. Just remember to bring some strong first moves, and you’ll be fine!
Sylveon
As of Gen Nine, Sylveon is still the newest member of the Eevee family. It is happy, perky, and covered in ribbons. It may have taken a while to clear the stage, though, since Sylveon is pretty slow and doesn’t have very good Attack or Defense stats.
What then makes up for everything? Because it works so well as a rare cure in Double and Triple Battles. Because it can use moves like Heal Bell to heal its teammates and Hyper Voice to deal good damage to a whole group of enemies, Sylveon is very powerful when it has a team that lets it shine.
Leafeon
We don’t think anyone has ever called Leafeon “Beefeon,” but it would be pretty close to the truth if they did. Leafeon’s Defense is great compared to most of its family.
The reason Leafeon is so high on our list is because it is a physical “wallbreaker.” With 110 Attack, moves like Leaf Blade and X-Scissor can do a lot of damage. It can handle a lot of what those walls will throw at it in Doodle Cricket thanks to its Defense.
Umbreon
There are no asterisks needed here; Umbreon is a great Pokemon. When you see that 65 on Attack and Special Attack, you might want to leave right away, but if you build this dark dog carefully, it can become a great partner.
Make sure to use Umbreon’s Foul Play, which uses the enemy’s Attack stat instead of the user’s. After that, add stalling moves like Wish and Protect to the active moveset to get the most out of this best Eeveelution.
