The all-new Maruti Suzuki Invicto is the rebadged version of the Toyota Innova HyCross. As the title suggests, these two MUVs are almost the same, but a few changes here and there are made to give them their own identities. There are other Maruti Suzuki cars that have a rebadged Toyota version and vice versa.
In terms of pricing, the Maruti Suzuki Invicto and the Toyota Innova HyCross have a major difference. The starting price of the latter is Rs 18.82 lakh, while the former has a starting price of Rs 24.79 lakh. All are ex-showroom prices.
Considering their starting prices, you can expect more features from the base variant of the Invicto, whereas you can expect hardly any features from the HyCross’s base variant.
However, let’s see how these two MUVs stack up with each other.
The Exterior
Let’s start with the Toyota Innova HyCross. The front fascia of the HyCross has a different design pattern with small vertical lines with a black-chrome colour scheme. The centre of the grille has the Toyota grille. This grille is flanked by LED headlights that might remind you of the Toyota Fortuner. The lower section of the front bumper incorporates large and vertical faux air dams, which have LED indicators, while the lowest section houses two small LED front fog lamps.
In contrast, the Maruti Suzuki Invicto has a signature NEXWave grille, which incorporates long horizontal dual chrome bars. These horizontal chrome bars have a Suzuki badge placed at the centre. This Nexa signature grille is also flanked by similar-looking but sleeker headlights than the Innova HyCross. Further, the lower section of the front bumper has gloss back inserts and relatively smaller faux air dams than the Innova HyCross. In addition, the lowest section of the front bumper has a silver-finished line.
Wheels
As for their side profiles, the only way to distinguish these two vehicles is by looking at their alloy wheels. The Maruti Suzuki Invicto is equipped with Maruti Suzuki’s signature design alloy wheels. They look similar to those alloys that are found in the top-most variant of the Grand Vitara and the Baleno. In contrast, the Innova HyCross has diamond-cut alloy wheels. Check out the HyCross images here.
Speaking of wheels, the top-most variant of the HyCross has broader tyres than the top-most variant of the Invicto. The former has a tyre profile of 225/50 R18, while the latter has a tyre profile of 215/60 R17.
At the back, they are nearly identical but they need a closer look to identify the exact model, especially for those who like guessing the model’s name just by looking at the lights. The taillights, however, are different as the Invicto has separate small LED bulbs inside the taillight, while the HyCross has a sweeping LED taillight.
Specifications
As far as the specifications are concerned, the Maruti Suzuki Invicto is solely available with a strong-hybrid engine, while the Toyota Innova HyCross is offered in both petrol and strong-hybrid engines. The Invicto uses the same strong hybrid engine as the HyCross.
In addition, you can read about the performance of the strong-hybrid version of the HyCross by visiting the Innova HyCross review.
The strong hybrid version of the Innova HyCross and the Invicto is power by a fifth-generation, 2.0-litre (1987cc), four-cylinder, TNGA engine, which is tuned to churn out 150 bhp at 6000 rpm and a peak torque of 188 Nm at 4400 rpm. This is the output of the petrol engine. In parallel, the electric motor churns out 112 bhp at 4000 rpm with a peak torque of 206 Nm. The combined engine (electric motor + petrol engine) power is 183.72 bhp.
As for the petrol version, which is only available in the Innova HyCross, it uses a 2.0-litre (1987cc), four-cylinder, TNGA petrol engine that produces 173 bhp at 6600 rpm and 209 Nm of peak torque at 4500 rpm. Check out the Innova HyCross price here.
Engines
Both MUVs are exclusively mated to a standard e-CVT automatic gearbox plus they have a front-wheel drivetrain.
The strong hybrid versions of these two cars have a nickel metal hydride battery that is placed under the front seats. The electric motor used in these MUVs has one permanent magnet synchronously placed integrated with the transmission. Further, they both have a pure EV drive mode.
Like Maruti Suzuki, you can also check out the list of Toyota cars that offer hybrid engines.
Besides their engine outputs, both MUVs have more or less the same suspension setup. As for the Toyota Innova HyCross, its front end stands on a MacPherson Strut suspension and its rear end stands on semi-independent torsion beam suspension. In contrast, the Maruti Suzuki Invicto also has a MacPherson Strut suspension at the front and a torsion beam suspension at the rear.
At the same time, the braking duties are taken care of by dual disc brakes, which are standard across the variants in these two cars. That said, you can expect a similar braking performance from these two MUVs.

However, it is worth mentioning that the MUVs are meant to offer a comfortable ride quality, which is why, their suspension setups are tune to the soft side. The Toyota Innova has been better in terms of ride quality from generation to generation. That said, the Toyota Innova has been well-suit for Indian roads and that too, where one finds several potholes and undulations. For your reference, a soft suspension will always absorb the bumps from potholes better than a stiff suspension will.
Features
Please note that the features mentioned here belong to the top-most variant of these two MUVs. It will include both common and exclusive features. Let’s read on, then.
When Toyota launched the Innova HyCross, its main two USPs comprised the Ottoman seats as well as the ADAS. These two are not there in the Maruti Suzuki Invicto. For your reference, the ADAS technology in the HyCross is the top-most variant, the ZX(O). Check out the Innova HyCross price list.

Further, both MUVs have front-ventilated seats but the HyCross has both heating and cooling functions, while the Invicto has a cooling function only. But, the Maruti Suzuki Invicto boasts heated/cooled cup holders, which are not found in the Innova HyCross.
The one-touch power window (up/down) function can be in all windows in the HyCross, while it’s the front windows only in the Invicto.
In the interior, the Toyota Innova HyCross has silver accents, while the Maruti Suzuki Invicto has golden accents. Apart from that, the Innova HyCross has a semi-digital instrument cluster, while the Invicto has a fully digital instrument cluster.
The common features include a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Both have steering-mounted controls, a voice command, Bluetooth, USB and auxiliary ports, and iPod compatibility. Both have mobile app connectivity.
