As the title suggests, there are minor differences between these two offerings. Among the range of Hero scooters, the Destini Prime is positioned below the Destini 125 Xtec. The former is available in one variant only, while the latter is available in two variants. In addition, these two offerings have different colour schemes.
Furthermore, the Hero Destini Prime is priced at Rs 71,499 for the standard variant, while the Destini 125 Xtec has a starting price of Rs 79,248 for the LX variant, and goes up to Rs 85,738 for the top variant, the VX-Alloy. All are average ex-showroom figures. These prices are as of August 2023.
Since there is a difference between their prices, let’s see from what aspects the Xtec version demands a premium over the Destini Prime. Let’s read on, then.
Specifications
Like other Hero bikes and scooters, the Destini Prime and its Xtec versions are structured using the high-rigidity under-bone type, which is known for its robustness and agility. Both the two-wheelers belong to the 125cc segment. That said, they both are powered by the same engine with a slightly different state of tune.
As for the Hero Destini Prime, this scooter is powered by a 125cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled mill, which is tuned to churn out 9 bhp at 7000 rpm and 10.36 Nm of peak torque at 5500 rpm. At the same time, the Destini Xtec is powered by the same 125cc engine with the same power but with a different torque, rated at 10.4 Nm at 5500 rpm. In addition, these two vehicles make their rear wheels spin via a standard CVT gearbox. Further, both offerings have a fuel tank capacity of 5 litres.
Keeping their figures aside, let’s now jump to their suspension setups. From that aspect, the Hero Destini Prime has a different setup from the Destini Xtec. The latter has a superior suspension than the former. The Destini Prime is equipped with a conventional telescopic fork at the front and a single coil spring hydraulic-type suspension at the rear.
On the other hand, the Destini Xtec has a telescopic fork with a hydraulic shock absorber at the front and a unit swing with a spring-loaded hydraulic damper at the rear. That said, it should be safe to say that Xtec will offer better comfort and a better overall ride quality. Given the Destini price, especially the Xtec version, the technical specification does make up for the price.
Moreover, the homegrown vehicles are mostly engineered by keeping the conditions of Indian roads in mind. That said, they can soak the undulations and bumps from potholes with ease.
At the same time, the braking duties of these two homegrown two-wheelers are taken care of by dual drum brakes. The size of the front and rear drum brakes is identical, rated at 130mm. For added safety, both vehicles are equipped with an integrated braking system (IBS). This is nothing different from the combined braking system (CBS). It’s just that companies use different monikers for marketing purposes.
Apart from that, the Destini Prime and the base variant of the Destini Xtec are offered with steel rims. But, the top-most version of the Xtec has an alloy wheel. The Destini Xtec price is Rs 85,738 (avg. ex-showroom). However, the tyre profile of these two vehicles is the same, rated at 90/100 R10.
Let’s now jump to the features section.
Features
As far as the features go, the Hero Destini Prime is equipped with a semi-digital instrument cluster, making the speedometer analogue, while the odometer and tachometer are digital. This display setup can be had in the Xtec version, as well. Moreover, both boast a low fuel indicator, under-seat storage, an automatic headlight, an LED headlight, an LED tail light, an LED brake light, and an LED turn signal. These two vehicles also have a pass light as standard.
Other standard features also include a USB charging port, a pillion seat, a pillion footrest, alongside a pillion grabrail. However, the VX-Alloy variant of the Hero Destini 125 Xtec boasts a pillion backrest. Check out the variant-wise Destini 125 price list here.
Unlike the Destini Prime’s standard variant, which has both kick and electric start types, the Destini 125 Xtec is exclusive to electric start only.
Last, but not least, both offerings have a boot light and Hero’s in-house-developed XSENS Advantage Technology.
Prices and Variants
As mentioned in the beginning, the Hero Destini Prime has one variant only, the standard (STD). It is available in three colours: Nobel Red, Nexus Blue and Pearl Silver White.
